Protest! - Beat the Dust Press' first foray into book-making - has just been critiqued by the reviews' editor at 3:AM Magazine, Max Dunbar. To read what he's got to say about this anthology of three long short stories written by the literary co-operative of Steve Finbow, Joseph Ridgwell and me, go 'ere. In defence of the manifesto at the start of the book (which came in for a bit of an ear-bashing in the review), like the author bios written as criminal records at the end, it was meant to be somewhat tongue in cheek. Ah well, sometimes ya pull stuff off, sometimes ya don't - what can ya do!
Monkey picks baby

Nope, not some weird simian experiment but rather Beatnik Modernist, Monkey (aka Mark Raison) choosing baby, i'm ready to go as one of his December book picks. And it's the kind of review I like - written by a paying punter who calls a spade a bloody shovel. The cover comes in for a bit of a trashing - ah well, ya win some ya lose some - but the rest is pretty smart. To read the review, go 'ere. I'm sandwiched between The Cribs with Johnny Marr and Les Ferdinand as Che Guevara. Class! But oh dear, did Mr Raison really refer to me as a "northern bird"? I think he did... which means I'm left with no option but to have him hunted down by a very big man with no neck who answers to the name of Biff.
